Properties and benefits of lemon essential oil

Soothing , on the psyche and on the nervous system, the essential oil of lemon , if inhaled, helps in case of anxiety disorders, nervousness which causes headache or insomnia and improves memory. Prevents blockages of the sympathetic nervous system, stimulates parasympathetic functions. It supports, instills courage and determination. Antiseptic: it is an excellent antibiotic, very useful from the first appearance of flu symptoms, such as fever , cold, cough and sore throat . The antibiotic and hemostatic properties are useful in case of infected wounds, tissue infections, stomatitis , canker sores, cold sores, inflamed or bleeding gums.

Depurative: 2 drops in a teaspoon of honey, helps in case of liver failure and high blood pressure. Detoxifies from excess toxins, stimulates liver and pancreas function and aids digestion.

Purifying: if used a few drops in the preparation of clay masks, it is useful in case of acne , oily and impure skin. Description of the plant

Use and practical advice on lemon essential oil

Environmental diffusion: 1 gc for each square meter of the environment in which it is diffused, by means of an essential oil burner, or in the humidifiers of the radiators, to purify the air

Gargle: in a glass of water put 10 drops of lemon essential oil for prolonged mouth rinsing, two to three times a day against gingivitis, stomatitis or halitosis.

Massage oil in 250 ml of sweet almond oil , put 15 drops of lemon essential oil. Massage the legs from the ankles to the pelvis in case of capillary fragility cellulite or varicose veins.

Mask for oily skin: blend 3 tablespoons of yogurt with 6-7 slices of cucumber, add 4-5 drops of lemon essential oil. Spread the mixture on your face and keep it for about twenty minutes. Wash with lukewarm water and repeat the operation two or three times a week.

Contraindications of lemon essential oil

Lemon essential oil is non-toxic, but can irritate the skin or give sensitization reactions in particular predisposed subjects. However, it is phototoxic, so it should not be used on the skin, if it is subsequently exposed directly to the sun or tanning lamps.
